Lavinia Rebecchini, PhD

Postdoctoral Associate

Lavinia Rebecchini, PhD, graduated in Clinical Psychology from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. She then pursued a research career and completed her doctoral training in perinatal psychiatry and psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King's College London. During her doctoral research, she investigated the impact of maternal perinatal depression on mother–infant interactions, maternal communication and mentalization, and early child socioemotional development. Her research also included work on a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effects of community music and singing interventions for women with postnatal depression.

Dr. Rebecchini's current research focuses on the biological and behavioral mechanisms linking maternal mental health with maternal and child outcomes across the perinatal period. She is involved in several longitudinal studies examining antenatal anxiety, infant sleep, stress biology, immune function, and child development. Her work integrates clinical assessments, longitudinal cohort analyses, and biomarker research to better understand the pathways through which early-life experiences influence maternal and child health. Her long-term goal is to identify modifiable mechanisms that can inform early preventive interventions and promote resilience in families.
